Steely Dan is an American rock band. Formed in the late 1970s, the band was founded by core members Walter Becker (guitars, bass, backing vocals) and Donald Fagen(keyboards, lead vocals), who played with a string of various session musicians throughout the years. Steely Dan's debut studio album, Can't Buy a Thrill, was released in 1972 and launched the hit singles "Do It Again" and "Reelin' In the Years". The group disbanded in 1981, but reformed in 1993, going on to write and release two albums of new material, the first of which, Two Against Nature, earned a Grammy Award for Album of the Year. The band has sold more than 40 million albums worldwide and they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March 2001. Upon Becker's passing in 2017, Donald Fagen remains the band's only official member.
