Pantera is an American based heavy metal band that was formed in Arlington, Texas in 1981 by the Abbott Brothers. The brothers, Dimebag Darrell on Guitar and Vinnie Paul on the drums are the creators of this insane band and they were joined by Phil Anselmo on vocals and Rex Brown as the Bassist. When Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul unfortunately passed away the group ended up bringing in Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante in 2023.
Pantera is one of the founding groups for creating the subgenre of Groove Metal in the early nineties and have sold more that twenty million records worldwide! All those copies sold were for good reason and it shows with them being nominated for four grammy awards. They are also regarded as one of the most influential bands in heavy metal history, being cited as one of the main influences for Slipknot, Machine Head, Bullet for My Valentine, Trivium, Avenged Sevenfold and many, many more.
The band went on to release 4 studio albums before they found their niche sound that everyone knows and loves. Their fifth studio album is credited as their debut album as this was where their sound really came through. By the time their seventh album was released in 1994, “Far From Beyond” had debuted at the number one position on the billboard top 200. The band played through until 2004 when Dimebag Darrel’s unfortunate passing happened. They then took a break to recuperate and in 2018 Vinnie Pauls death caused the reunion to be on hold for a bit longer.
After Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante were inducted into the group in 2022, they then announced they were all reuniting for their first tour in twenty two years. This tour was initially supposed to just be in 2023 but has continued through to 2025, you’re in luck! And to be joined by an incredible band like Amon Amarth? You don’t want to miss out on any of their amazing work. Go and hit that “Buy Tickets Now” button and get ready for a night full of headbanging and voice cracking from screaming along with them!
